PROJECT | MDF assembles at Auckland Art Gallery

We were super excited to have another amazing opportunity to transform our vision into a reality when we moved our assembling station into the Auckland Art Gallery for a sunny afternoon. 

We were joined by friends of MYDEERFOX, Sharleen and Jess who came on board to assemble the order for the gallery shop with us, as well as an unexpected gallery visitor (a product design student travelling from Germany!). Cute side story, while we were making bags and chatting away, another gallery visitor popped over to join the conversation, and it turned out that she was too travelling from Germany and they were from the same town! And it is moments like these, where we feel even more so the need to create platforms that allow us to explore what the concept of work and the workplace could entail. 

The project is about creating an interactive work environment, which removes the limitations of machinery and specialised expertise, and instead, draws its character from the space and individuals who are involved, thereby weaving their story into the narrative of the products.

That sense of closeness through the transparency, is about creating connections that are beyond satisfying consumption, injecting the product with a layer of identity that is born through the making process and informs our design aesthetic. As so often in our everyday lives, we often settle into the systematic ways in which things work, sometimes it is nice to look a little further and be able to discover something special.
